Dan George - Insurance Simplistic Solutions

At the Desert Business Association, we are proud to spotlight members who bring expertise, integrity, and a strong commitment to community. We are excited to feature Dan George (he/him), owner of Insurance Simplistic Solutions in Palm Springs.

Dan has served the Coachella Valley for over a decade and opened his own agency last year to help businesses and residents navigate insurance with clarity and confidence. He provides Property and Casualty insurance throughout California, focusing on practical, client-centered solutions. Originally from Moscow, Idaho, Dan brings a grounded approach to his work, helping clients protect their livelihoods, families, and investments through clear communication and trusted guidance.  

We asked Dan a few questions in order to get to know him better: 
What inspired you to start your business, and what makes it unique in the Coachella Valley?
I wanted to start an insurance agency that is 100% LGBTQ+ owned and operated in the Coachella Valley. Paul Hodapp, my husband and Owner of HR Simplistic, inspired me to work alongside him and his payroll/HR business to give our community a one-stop shop for their business needs.

How does your business support or engage with the LGBTQ+ community and the greater Coachella Valley?
I have been a member of the Desert Business Association for over a decade and served on the board for several years. My husband and I have sponsored many LGBT focused nonprofits in the valley that support our LGBTQ+ youth and community.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business today, especially in our region?
Surround yourself with people that you trust, and don't doubt yourself or your business.

Where do you see your business in the next five years?
I hope to be able to grow my agency in the next 5 years to be able to employ and pass down my experience to newer insurance agents.

Why is being part of the Desert Business Association important to you?
The DBA provides a sense of a safety net for small businesses to succeed. Having a close-knit group of people with similar life experiences makes it easier to refer business.

What does being an LGBTQ+ or allied business owner mean to you personally?
Insurance is a highly personal part of people's lives, and I want our people in our community to feel comfortable talking about their families and lifestyles.

What is one local business you admire or love to support?
We are lucky to have several businesses in this Valley that are LGBTQ+ Owned and operated. I love supporting Eight4Nine, Willie's, Wabi Sabi Japan Living, and, of course, HR Simplistic, among others.

What is your favorite thing about doing business in the Coachella Valley?
Sense of community
